Time to book a holiday?
Our conversation today turned to summer holidays. Before we had children we would travel around America for a couple of weeks each year or go snowboarding, but since having Z almost 6 years ago we haven’t been further than the South of France.
To be honest the thought of three small children on a long flight terrifies me. Z and S would probably be ok , but H at just 2 would be a nightmare. She just about managed the flight to Montpelier last year, but another 10 minutes and she wouldn’t have been very happy at all. Perhaps the problem is that we’ve only flown on budget airlines with children, maybe if we were on a flight with films and games provided it would be better?
Even waiting at Gatwick last year was stressful, the airport was busy and we foolishly had a rucksack each, two trunki suitcases and the three children to contend with. We really were the family you don’t want to share a plane with.
I would love to take the kids somewhere further afield at some point, and this video from British Airways makes me think it might actually be a possibility. They really have thought of everything from parent and child parking spaces and soft play at the airport to activity packs and even a dedicated kids film channel once on the plane. British Airways now even allow children to use inflight entertainment from when they board the plane which should make the beginning and end of a flight much less stressful as well.
The film also has some great tips for parents travelling with children, it is definitely worth watching.
Should I be worried about travelling with 3 children, or should I just go for it? and what do you do to make travelling with children easier?
