5 fun things to do outside ( even in the cold )
Over the Christmas holidays we tried to get outside as much as we could, sometimes the children took a bit of persuading so we had to make it more fun than just going for a walk.
We played lots of games of pooh sticks, H struggles to throw the sticks far enough, but loved the games all the same.
We made lots and lots of dens…some more elaborate than others.
We put on wellies and splashed in puddles, which gave me a LOT of extra washing to do, but was definitely worth it.
We played hide and seek in the forest.
Z and S did some jumping over streams while H and I watched with our eyes closed. Luckily no one fell in.
What do you do to encourage your children to play outside?

Yea! so much fun!
I used to love doing all these things and also a bit of tree climbing (not too high mind). If the weather continues, you’ll be able to add building a snowman and snowball fights into the list for the next couple of days.

Thanks Jane!
Looks like great fun! Thankfully I don’t need to encourage my two to play outside, it is a struggle to get them to come in

Thats good, mine are usually ok, but when they think its a ‘walk’ they get a bit narky!
I’ve just stumbled across your post. What is “pooh sticks”? I’ve never heard of it before.
I’ve never heard of “Pooh Sticks” either, can someone explain this game?
You each htrow a stick into the river and first persons stick to reach a certain point downstream is the winner.
