It’s quite rare that I get an e-mail which makes me jump up and down with excitement, but thats exactly what happened when I received an invite to the Wilderness Festival in the beautiful Cornbury Park in Oxfordshire.
I love my children getting the chance to experience something out of the ordinary, and the Wilderness Festival most definitely promises to give them a very extra special weekend. The entertainment lineup looks absolutely amazing and includes the likes of; Rodrigo y Gabriela, Wilco, Spiritualized, Lianne La Havas Yotam Ottolenghi, Fergus Henderson & St John as well as Cinematic spectaculars from Future Cinema and workshops with the Idler Academy and School of Life.
I am massively looking forward to seeing Bugsy Malone from Future Cinema and the Roald Dahl storytelling. My children LOVE Dirty Beasts and Revolting Rhymes.
The festival has a ‘Little Wild Ones’ area which sounds perfect for my littlies. I know the girls will find the rainbow trail led by the Fairyland Trust magical and Z will adore the old fashioned sweet shop from Tea Potty Shed.
I’m hoping the kids will be so entertained in the ‘Little Wild Ones’ area that I’ll be able to sneak off to the Lakeside Spa and the Thyme Cookery School, the possibilities seem endless for us all!
The Bushcraft company will be teaching children bushcraft skills such as lighting fires and shelter building which again is right up Z’s street. I am just so excited for me and the kids, I CANNOT wait!
Of course in all the dancing around the room, I totally forgot that I’d actually have to camp, and that I have a 2 man tent, 3 kids and a not so small hubby, but I can work with that. The festival promises hot showers, clean toilets and baby changing facilities, what more do you need?
For those wanting a bit of luxury, boutique camping is available, I’ve just been admiring the yurts!
