A flavour from home – sponsored video

March 25, 2015 by admin 7 Comments

Do you have one meal that makes you think of home? A food or flavour that takes you right back to the family dinner table. I think for me it’d be a roast dinner, just because the only day we all sit down together is on a Sunday and a roast is such a traditional Sunday meal. Chicken, gravy, roast potatoes, yorkshire puddings and a messy kitchen make me think of some of the loveliest, quality family time we have.

This lovely video from Knorr shows Carmen who works in the Arctic, thousands of miles from her family tucking into a meal cooked by her Mum, the flavours reminding her of home and family.

New research commissioned by Knorr found that people still find their mothers cooking to be one of the most powerful flavours on earth and 75% agree that one mouthful of their Mum’s home cooking is enough to evoke happy childhood memories. This actually makes me a bit sad as I don’t feel like I have a signature dish my children would recognise as mine, apart from my world famous chocolate brownies…I think I need to work on my cooking skills.

What food or flavour makes you think of home?

Oh my mum makes a mean beef roast with mash potato – she makes it every time I go home to visit.

That video really made me cry – it’s so true. Can’t beat a mum’s cooking and I’m sure your kids appreciate yours more than you know – they’re just too little to tell you yet x

What a lovely video! Ohhh so many, I loved coming back from Uni to my Mums roast, followed by homemade chocolate fudge cake, but a really strange one is Heinz salad cream.

I think my kids find my cooking flavours the most powerful for all the wrong reasons sadly 🙁

I think I need some Knoor in my life to try and detract from the burnt / raw bits and to add some flavours they actually might want to come back to
