Drinkaware – Sponsored Video

June 28, 2012 by admin Leave a Comment

My eldest child is only 5, so we haven’t had to talk to him about drinking alcohol yet, and I hope we don’t have to for a very long time, but I have wondered how I would go about it. After my birthday last year I was a little unwell after a night of drinking wine, which I don’t do much anymore and he did say a few weeks later that ‘pink wine makes Mummy sick’, so I know he is aware of some of the effects of drinking alcohol.

I think when I was young I was very blasé about alcohol and the associated risks, I hope I can educate my own children to be sensible, from both a safety and a health point of view.

Drinkaware gives lots of advice, tips and tools for talking to young children about alcohol at any age, it is a fantastic resource of information to help parents talk to their children. Research has shown that the majority of children aged 9-17 would turn to their parents first for information and advice about drinking alcohol, and the more information they have and the earlier they have it the better. Drinkaware gives you the information you need to be confident in talking to your child about drinking throughout their teenage years. Children need the facts from their parents in order to make informed decisions.

I’m not looking forward to the day I have to have these conversations with my own children, but watching the video below has really made me think about the best approach to take when the time comes, which may well be sooner than I had hoped for, but I do hope not.

This is a sponsored post, but all thoughts are my own.
