Morrisons – Fuel Saver Scheme

September 7, 2012 by admin 5 Comments

One of our biggest monthly outgoings is fuel. We have three small children, so a small economical car is out of the question. I have to drive to school everyday and my husband drives to work. Those costs soon mount up. I always keep an eye out for special offers and money saving vouchers especially from Morrisons which is our nearest petrol station and supermarket.

Morrisons have just launched a new fuel saver scheme. The process is very easy. You can buy gift cards in store for High Streets shops such as Next, Boots, Debenhams, iTunes and many more. When you make your purchase at the till you get a voucher which saves you 1pence-a-litre off fuel for every £10 you spend. For example, if you were to buy a £30 voucher, you would then save 3 pence-a-litre on your fuel which would save you £1.80 on a 60 litre fill up. You can then use the gift cards to make your usual purchases in High Street stores.

I think the fuel saver scheme sounds great. We already use our credit card to pay for most purchases and then use those points to pay for day trips and meals out, we can still do that with this scheme but can save money on our fuel as well.

I know these savings can seem small, but over months or years they can really build up. Especially for someone like me who spends an awful lot of money in Boots and Next buying children’s items.

I spotted the gift cards in Morrisons this week. They were close to the tills so very easy to pick up at the end of your usual food shop. i think the process could become part of my weekly shopping routine very quickly, and will be a huge help as fuel costs continue to rise.

What do you think? would the scheme benefit you?

We definitely need something to help cut the cost of fuel here.
