Keeping my family active and healthy is very important to me. Back in the days before having children I would run in the gym 5 times a week, and my husband has always been a very keen squash player. These days my exercise is mostly limited to running around after the children, but just recently I’ve been getting my bike out and trying to use that instead of the car. Its brilliant if I just have H with me as she sits on the back and if Z is home he can cycle along with us.
Every weekend we try and get out together as a family somewhere where the kids can run around, either just into the woods near our house or to local National Trust or Forestry Commission places which are always great fun for us and the children.
Z especially is showing signs of loving sport. He has just started an after school athletics club inspired by the Olympics and also does street dance, swimming and tennis lessons.
The times when we have the most fun though, is when we are all out together, whether its just throwing a ball around or cycling or scooting it is just brilliant to all be outside together keeping active.
Did you know that the recommended amount of exercise is 30 minutes, 5 times a week? I know I don’t do that, as good as I am at getting the children out, I haven’t yet managed to find the time to look after myself, which I know is something I need to change.
This video tells you a little bit about Flora and loving your heart, and there are some exercise tips here.
