The Home Upgrades that Actually Change Everyday Living

Everyone wants a cosy home, which totally makes sense here. And most people will do what they can to make upgrades so they can make that happen (which makes sense here). But the problem is, a lot of home upgrade talk gets way too caught up in stuff that looks impressive for five minutes and then barely changes anything about daily life. And that’s really the issue.

People get sold this idea that the best upgrades are the giant ones, the flashy kitchen reveal, the statement wall, the expensive finish that photographs well, all of that. And okay, sure, some of those things are nice. Like, they’re really fun too. But if a home still feels annoying to live in after all that, then what was even the point? Sure, you could like in a magazine-worthy home, but if you’re constantly being inconvenienced, seriously, what’s the point here?

Smart Tech Can Make a Home Feel Less Irritating

Well, all those tiny inconveniences throughout the day don’t make a giant impact, but at the same time, once they’re gone, it feels wonderful, doesn’t it? Well, smart home tech is one of those things that can sound a little extra until it’s actually there. Really, it’s worth the money, like a video doorbell, for example, is such a small thing, but yeah, it really does change the mood of a house a bit.

You’ve probably seen ads for that Ring doorbell, and it’s a nice example.

So, not every knock at the door needs answering. Not every person standing outside needs immediate access to somebody’s time and attention. So being able to check who it is first just makes life feel easier.

That’s probably the biggest example here, but there’s these tiny ones too, like changing the temperature in the house throughout the day on your phone, smart lighting (like those Philips Hue lights) that can turn on by phone or voice, the curtains and shades closing with a click of a button, a Roomba that has a schedule to vacuum and mop, well, the list could go on and on here. But don’t all of these sound tiny, yet sound so good too?

Comfort Upgrades Just Feel More Luxurious

Again, it’s just those small things that just fit into day-to-day life that matter the most here. Besides, just keep in mind here that this is where things get really good, because a house can be pretty and still not feel especially comfortable. Which, yes, that’s such a letdown. Actually, here’s a fantastic example: getting a stove or even a standard fireplace for your living room (or any room), they look luxurious, they feel luxurious, the crackling of the fire just has this cosy feeling to it, you get the idea here.

The same can be said about getting an air conditioner, not the tower ones with the pipe that goes out the window, but one that gets installed into your house. The summers are getting hotter, and houses here really weren’t built for these summers at all; they’re built to retain heat. Wouldn’t you rather be comfortable and cool all summer long?

Why Not a Dryer?

Seriously now, this one really doesn’t get enough credit. A dryer sounds so boring compared to other home upgrades, but honestly, it can change everyday living more than a lot of trendier stuff. Drying clothes all over the house is just one of those things people put up with for ages because it becomes normal. But normal doesn’t always mean good.

It clutters rooms, slows laundry down, and can leave the whole place feeling damp and vaguely depressing. Sure, in the summer it’s fine, but any other time of the year? Well, you’re risking mould in the house, hence why it’s better to get a dryer.
