Keeping your home free of stress

Published: Nov 27, 2018 by admin · This post may contain affiliate links or sponsored content

As any Mum knows, getting home from work just to start the daily chores can make home life feel like a second job and that is just what Hoppy have revealed in their Happy Home study.

They found that over 40% of people feel the daily chores feels like a second job, and that 75% of workers are unhappy with their current home environment.

And it’s definitely not an equal playing field either, with women devoting up to 47 hours per month keeping the house running, compared to a mere 37 hours from men. This unequal split is often cited as a trigger for arguments, with nearly a quarter of couples saying that they considered moving out, separating or even divorcing due to the stress of running a household.

Beyond relationships, it can also affect your sleeping patterns. 30% of people said that lack of storage space is keeping them up a night, while 15% said that balancing the demands of work and running a house left them lying awake at night.

Luckily, there are some methods for tackling these daily stresses, including:

  1. Divide and Conquer

Divvy up the chores for the house, ensuring that everyone has some responsibility, you’d be surprised how much time you can save when you make it a big team effort.

  1. Use Tech to Help

Download an app or allow your calendar to send you notifications to remind you to do your daily tasks. This way you don’t have to worry about remembering to do them.

  1. Be Realistic

Finally, be realistic about what is important – will the laundry wait another day while you spend quality time with the family, you can be sure it will.

What makes a happy home

How do you feel about this? I know I struggle to balance everything.
