It is Important to Know Who to Call When Something Goes Wrong with Your Home

No matter how new your home is or how well you take care of it, the inevitable will eventually happen. Something will leak, break down, or stop working altogether. And because when these things happen, they are never conveniently timed, you might become stressed and wonder what to do next. Instead of spiralling into a state of stress and frustration, take some time right now (before you need service assistance) to learn who to contact in case of a home emergency.

Plumber

Water dripping from your sink faucet is both annoying and a waste of precious water, not to mention money that literally goes down the drain. A minor drip can soon turn into a problem, however, so it is good to know who to call. Find a trusted plumber who can handle everything from commonplace drippy faucets to frozen pipes and leaks. Learn about their daytime and after-hours protocols to ensure you know who to call and where to call to find the services you need right away and prevent the problem from getting worse.

Electrician

Sometimes, homeowners think they can do something as easy as installing a new light. Of course, you might be able to do this, but you might also run into a problem. When that happens or when you just need an experienced electrician to do the job the right way, you need to know how to contact a licensed electrician immediately. Start doing your research by asking friends and family members for referrals. From there, look up the electricians online and read the reviews. Once you find one that will work for you, check out their contact information and emergency contact numbers.

Garage Door Services

If you have never had your vehicle stuck inside a garage before, then you might not think you need to know the number of a garage door service company. However, if your garage door runs on electricity without an auxiliary backup and no manual way to pull it up and open, you might be stuck at home until you get help. In another scenario, you have a manual pull string, but you are not strong enough to pull the door open on your own. Once again, you are stuck and at the mercy of someone else. Find an all-hours garage door service company near you, just in case.

Internet Provider

When your internet service suddenly goes out, this may not seem like a major concern, but if you rely on internet service to work from home or to manage smart thermostats within your home, you need to have reliable internet access. Know who to call before you enter into this potentially frustrating scenario. Your monthly billing statement and your online dashboard should both list information on whom to contact if a problem occurs. Look for normal operating hours, evening and weekend operating hours and the appropriate phone numbers.

Do not put off this important task. It will only take you a few minutes, and you should save the newfound contact information in your smartphone under “Plumber,” “Electrician,” etc. That way, you can find what you need immediately and avoid delaying service for your home while you are searching for the right utility provider or services.
