Your health is important. And yet, it is often overlooked. You have so many things going on in your life that your needs often get pushed aside. That is understandable. After all, you only want the best for the people you love, so you work hard to take care of them. But what happens if you are stretched too thin and become ill? You are important and valuable and should always prioritise your health and needs in tandem with everyone else in your life. Here is a quick checklist to get you started.

Take Care of Your Ears
As you age, your hearing will inevitably diminish, at least to some degree. If you start to notice that you are having to ask people to repeat themselves more often than not, you should take action and make an appointment with a hearing professional. They will assess your auditory health and determine the best next steps. This may include a simple ear wax removal procedure or a hearing test. Regardless of the process, the point is to help you hear better and learn how to protect your hearing to make it last.
Keep Your Body Active
Your body is not meant to be sedentary. Living a busy life can sometimes make it difficult to maintain a consistent exercise regimen. If you currently exercise regularly, keep going. If you could use a nudge in the right direction, you should aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise each week. When you do the maths, that ends up being just under 22 minutes of movement each day. You can do that. Go for a brisk walk with your dog before everyone wakes up or with the whole family after dinner. Make it a group activity and have fun by making it a scavenger hunt.
Get Enough Quality Sleep
Sleep can be elusive for many people. Whether you need to get things done around the house after the kids go to bed, you want to spend some extra time with your significant other, or you are going through body changes that prevent you from achieving quality sleep, you might not be getting enough rest to help keep you healthy. During sleep, your body heals and washes out unwanted proteins in your brain that can lead to dementia in some people. Not only that, when you are not well-rested, you tend to be less responsive, less reactive, more groggy, and sometimes more cranky than you would normally be. Aim for seven to nine hours of sleep each evening and try to go to bed and wake up at the same times each evening and morning to help you stay on schedule.
