A bedroom makeover plan

Modified: Mar 4, 2021 · Published: Oct 19, 2018 by admin · This post may contain affiliate links or sponsored content

We’ve been in our house for an incredible 10 years! I can’y quite believe it. In that time we’ve replaced carpets, had a loft conversion and painted everywhere ( some rooms more than once ) apart from our bedroom. It still has the same paint and same carpet it did when we first moved in, and is now starting to look quite scruffy and dated. It’s definitely not a room I would go to sit and relax in. My dream would be to have a bedroom That makes me want to go to bed early, but perhaps that means it needs a TV, as I often find myself watching ‘just one more’ episode of something on Netflix or Amazon.

All our bedroom needs is a coat of paint and some new flooring and it will look SO much better. As always, I can’t decide between carpet and wood. I don’t like my feet to feel cold in the mornings, but I like that wood is wipe clean and I’m loving the Quick-Step Impressive in soft oak grey. I like that it is extra waterproof as I am always spilling water on the floor. Perhaps the solution is a laminate floor with a lovely super soft rug by my feet!

Our other problem is that our bed is solid oak and so will be REALLY hard to move if we decide to change the floors, which kind of puts me off! We changed my son’s room when he was away with school for a week and even that was quite hard work moving everything in and out of the room. I know it’ll be worth it though, as his whole room looks so much better without the pen and slime stained carpet (slime and pens are another good reason to get a wipe clean floor ).

Once we’ve painted and changed the floor, I’ll just need to get a new blind, curtains and bedding and the whole place will look so much better, and hopefully more inviting too! I generally find any home improvements a bit of a chore as there is so much upheaval that we don’t really have time for, but I know sometimes you’ve just got to do these things. Finding the money is often tricky too!

What do you prefer? Wood, laminate or carpet? Or a bit of a mix? We have engineered wood on the top floor and in the hallway and living room, which I like, but ours is not especially wipe clean and really needs a good sand and polish, which is also a bit of a time and money sucker so just never gets done.
