Small Kid’s Bedroom? 4 Innovative Ways to Utilise the Space

November 13, 2023 by admin Leave a Comment

Most children’s bedrooms end up cluttered at some point or another. After all, kids aren’t known for their tidiness! Once they have gotten bored with one toy or game, they quickly move on to the next without thinking about putting it away. In a small kid’s room, this can quickly prove problematic, leading to a cluttered mess that seems almost impossible to tackle.

Fortunately, there are some clever ways to make the most of a small space. Does your child have a small bedroom? Use the following four innovative ways to ensure they have room to play.

1: Get a Bed with Built-in Storage

More than likely, the bed in your child’s room takes up most of the space. The good news is that it doesn’t only need to be used for sleeping! Getting a bed with built-in storage underneath will give you plenty of room for storing toys. You could even go a step further and get a loft bed – with the bed off the floor, you have plenty of space underneath the bed for storage and a desk.

2: Install Column Radiators

Your little one’s room needs to stay warm and toasty in the winter. Unfortunately, radiators tend to take up a lot of room, and putting furniture in front of them will only block the heat. There is a fantastic solution to this: vertical column radiators. By using the vertical space in the room (rather than width), you can ensure the bedroom heats up during the cold days without the radiator getting in the way. By replacing a regular radiator with a vertical one, you might even find you have extra room for a wardrobe or small desk!

3: Make the Most of the Walls

For most young children, it’s best to leave most of the floor space clear. That way, they can use the floor to crawl around and play. When they want to get a playmat or a Lego set out, they can do so without interruption! To make this easier, make the most of the walls in your child’s bedroom. Instead of putting a lamp on the floor, for example, hang a lamp from the wall. You could also install shelves for toy boxes and put up children’s wall art. If you run out of space, you could decorate the ceiling with stickers and pictures!

4: DIY Shelves

You don’t have to buy the standard shelves they sell in furniture stores! Instead, consider DIY to create your own shelves for your kid’s bedroom. By doing this, you can maximise the space any way you see fit. For example, if you have an awkward corner, you can custom-make a shelf to fit the slot perfectly. Not only will your child have more room for their toys, but the design itself will look more seamless.

Don’t assume that a small bedroom can’t be enjoyable for your little one! Even with the smallest spaces, you can create a fun and exciting space with room to play. These innovative ideas will help you do just that.
