Learning to drive

I remember learning to drive like it was yesterday, I remember the instructor picking me up at home and afterwards dropping me off at college. I remember my Mum taking me out to practice and then making me stop on the side of the road so she could get back behind the wheel, I was THAT bad. I remember how much my legs were shaking when I took my test, I remember being utterly flabbergasted that I’d passed. In my 17 years of driving I’ve had numerous small ‘incidents’ the worst was when I accidentally straddled the base of a petrol pump when I was 18 in my first car, and had to ask an attendant to help my push the car off….to make matters worse it was during the petrol crisis and the pump was empty! I’ve never mastered the art of parallel parking unless there’s a lot of space either side.

More recently I took a corner very badly in a car park and scraped all down the side of my SMax on the concrete, there was a LOT of damage. I’ve never felt so stupid, and am now ridiculously careful in that car park. I also once crashed into our garage, which now had a car shaped dent in it.

It seems I’m not the only one to have had silly car accidents. The lovely Emma and 3 once drove around without realising she had a flat tire even though people were flashing her.

Helen from The Crazy Kitchen was in an accident just before Christmas and very worried about the BBQ in her boot!

Mary from Keynko once wrote off a Police Car, I feel a bit better about my little accidents now.

Have you ever had a silly accident with your car?

I know car insurance is generally very expensive if you’re young or a new driver, but I really love the idea of Telematics from More Than, MORE TH>N SM>RT WHEELS is telematics (black box) Car Insurance for young drivers. MORE THAN arrange a fitting of a SM>RT WHEELS Box somewhere out of sight in your car, and through this build up a picture of your driving style, if you score well you could be rewarded with up to 10% of your premium back in the first year.
