My husband and I are not very good in the garden. We buy pretty plants every spring and they don’t last the summer. We are also not very good at keeping it tidy.
So this year we are sticking with things we can eat. We have three very willing little helpers, who especially like to keep things well watered.
Birds Eye kindly sent us some sweetcorn, peas and carrots to get us started.
We started them off inside, and look what happened.
Today we moved the peas outside. Fingers crossed they survived the move.
Hopefully soon we’ll have lots of lovely vegetables to eat! If the slugs don’t get them first!

I have given up growing things due to the local cats who dig up everything and poo in the flowerbeds. I covered everything in chickenwire and sticks but they seem to get around everything and it takes all the pleasure out of it. Now I just concentrate on the pond which has newts in it, and I keep that nice. I keep the bird tables topped up. I also leave piles of wood and weeds lying around for creatures to hide in and call it a wildlife garden! Oh and I cuddle the local cats when they come to visit! Good luck with your growing!

I love grow your own, it is only our second year so we are not that great but it is fun. We have spuds, carrots, peas, brocoli, cucumber and lettuce this year.

this year I’m sticking to spuds, they kind of take care of themselves. I usually forget to water my tomatoes & chilli plants so I’ve given up on those this year. Hopefully we’ll have a nice crop of spuds & apples & a few strawberries that seem to have looked after themselves too – & hopefully our new plum tree will produce too….in fact I would say we are almost self sufficient! x
We were growing tomatoes. But they died. And we were growing pansies. But they died. And French Beans. But they died… notice a theme? The only things left alive are the runner beans, rocket, lettuce and fox gloves. And the daisies and lavender. I have my fingers crossed your peas survive!

That is so cool and you have raised beds too! That is what I want in my garden. One day I will get brave enough to grow my own vegetables. x
Well done. We’re rubbish too. Every autumn we buy bulbs from the pta plant sale, and every spring we drain them from the tub we left them in and never got round to planting. Good luck 😉
