Making life in the kitchen easier

Published: Aug 26, 2016 by admin · This post may contain affiliate links or collaborative content.

As a family we spend a lot of time in our kitchen, cooking, chatting and playing games. It’s the hub of the house, the first place we’re all together in the morning, the place where we celebrate special occasions or just relax over a drink or two with extended family and friends, and the place where the kids bake, do homework and craft projects.

It’s also the room in the house that frustrates me the most as it’s perpetually messy, and I sometimes feel like I’m stuck in an endless loop of tidying it. We have matte black floor tiles which show up every little speck of dirt, I dislike them immensely, and would love to spent a lot less time cleaning and more time fully focussed on the kids or whoever is in the kitchen with me.

We recently visited IKEA for a new wardrobe, but got distracted by the amazing kitchens. I love the gorgeous worktops, and funky gadgets, the pop up knife block was a particular favourite. I’d really like an island which would give us much needed extra storage space and an extra worktop area that we are also quite short of. We came away from our IKEA visit ( the new store in Reading is amazing by the way ) full of ideas and inspiration. We just need to put them into action now.

We are currently saving up for a garage and kitchen extension. I LOVE going round Ikea and window shopping

We have a tiny kitchen and I’m not sure what else we can do about it. We definitely need new cabinets though!

Our kitchen was our first big project in our renovation. It was so worth it and we paid extra to have it exactly as we wanted it. We practically live in there.

Our kitchen is a disaster too, the floor is the worst part, but I think that it’s not worth putting a nice floor in until the kids are older and don’t make as much of a mess. I would also love the redo the cabinets to create more storage space!

I haven’t been in an IKEA for probably 20 years and I always hear great things, so I must make the effort. Mich x

We are renting and our kitchen at the moment is quite modern but a bit small. In the future, I hope we get to have a forever home with a big massive kitchen and an island in the middle, around which we can chat and cook together.
