Mess, mess, mess

We moved into our current house 5 years ago now, it was brand new when we bought it, but unfortunately the kitchen had already been chosen. I remember saying to the salesperson that I’m sure their choice would be fine as long as the cupboards were not white. They were white….and the floor matt black tiles…the two worst colours for a kitchen when you have small children.

The white cupboards are luckily wipe clean, but always covered with smears of food and paint. The black floor shows up every little crumb, sometimes it looks like the kids have literally sat on a chair and shredded their food on the floor.

My frustration levels peaked last Christmas and so desperate was I for a clean floor that I chose to forgo my usual gift of nice face cream  and asked for a really cool steam mop instead. You can even remove the steam bit and use it as a handheld cleaner so it works for the cupboards and the oven too. I can honestly say that my kitchen has never been cleaner and it’s super quick which is what you need with three kids running around your feet.

If only there was some similar magic device I could wave around the rest of my house.  Part of the problem is that with three small children we are in the house a lot, I suppose once everyone starts school things will be easier and generally less messy? I’m also looking forward to when the weather warms up and we can eat outside more, and hopefully the garden will become less of a a mud pit.

This little monkey is the worst.

However, next time we move house I will not be having black floors, perhaps mottled cream would be more forgiving?

What are the worst bits of your house to clean?
