Keeping little teeth clean

December 2, 2013 by admin Leave a Comment

I have to confess, I was meant to write this post just after Halloween, but somehow the last 4 weeks seem to have completely disappeared, but seen as my children seem to have a sweetie advent calendar AND a chocolate calendar, cleaning teeth this month will be more important than ever.

I think as a family, we’re pretty good at cleaning our teeth. Z has 6 ‘grown up’ teeth and I try REALLY hard to make sure he brushes them twice a day, but I will admit that I don’t always supervise his brushing, especially in the morning when it’s hard enough just getting out to school on time.

We were kindly sent a lovely pack of sugar free sweets, flosses and new toothbrushes from Oasis Dental Care. All the kids were very pleased to get brand new toothbrushes, especially ones with a built in timer, it definitely makes the kids brush for much longer. We’ve got quite into flossing as well, the kids really like doing it, and it’s actually encouraged me to floss more too.

Brushing children's Teeth

We’ll definitely be making a big effort to keep our teeth sparkly clean during the run up to Christmas.

Top Brushing Tips

Children should brush for 2 minutes at least twice a day.

Children should floss once a day

Children should use a soft brush and be supervised.

They should start at the end of one row of teeth and use light circular motions along the whole line of teeth, then do the same on the other row.

Don’t rinse, just spit.

Replace brushes every three months.

Healthy Eating for Healthy Teeth

Healthy eating builds strong teeth and gums so make sure you and your family eat a good diet.

Little ones intake of sugary foods and fizzy drinks should be limited.

Sports

Children should wear a mouthguard if playing contact sports.

Visit the dentist on a regular basis.

What’s your dental routine like?

We were sent a lovely box of brushes and flossers for the purpose of this post.
