How To Create A Low Maintenance Garden

Published: Oct 17, 2020 by admin · This post may contain affiliate links or sponsored content

With children to look after, a job to hold down, and a house to maintain. There’s usually little to no time left to commit to creating the garden of your dreams. And even if you did, you probably wouldn’t have any time to look after it. But that’s okay because there are alternative ways to gain a good looking garden without needing to tend to and prune it every other day, and here’s how.

Install A Patio

Patios look smart and can add definition and uniformity to outdoor areas. Moreover, patios create zones in your garden, which are perfect for creating outdoor living areas.

Rattan furniture, for instance, looks excellent laid across a new, smart patio. Plus, it’s an extra-low maintenance area for kids to hang out and have fun.

To gain an idea of patio materials available and a quote for having one installed, you can research and contact patio builders near you for information.

Evergreen Plants

Some plants need ongoing care, plucking, pruning, and feeding. Other plants, however, such as evergreen shrubs, need next to no maintenance at all.

From Buxus to viburnum tinus, these plants are hardy, can withstand harsh weather, and don’t require ongoing maintenance to survive and look spritely. Which is ideal when you don’t have any time to keep them alive.

As your chosen evergreens grow, it helps each spring and sputum to give them a little prune to keep them looking today all year round. But other than that, they can survive entirely on their own and add much-needed structure to your garden space too.

Artificial Grass

Green, healthy grass looks great in any garden and provides an ample open space for children to play. But a lush lawn often requires a lot of maintenance to look good all year. Some of the tasks you need to perform to keep your lawn in good condition are de-weeding, aerating, and scarifying the lawn.

As an alternative, you may want to consider artificial grass. It’ll look good all year round; it’s low maintenance, meaning no more time spent mowing throughout the spring and summer. Plus, it’s cushy enough for kids to play on too.

Use Minimalism In Your Garden

Gardens abound with endless stuff. From old toys to unused children’s trampolines and old plant pots, and seating that’s never used, makes the garden look unkempt. And also makes it hard to maintain.

To overhaul your garden and make it more low maintenance. Consider taking some time to move things you no longer need in the garden to the local recycling center.

In doing so, you’ll free up space and make it much easier to keep tidy. By clearing out things from the shed, you’ll have more room to tuck away the things you need too. Space in your shed is ideal to store furniture during Autumn and Winter.

By using some or all of the above tips, you can make your garden easier to maintain and aesthetically pleasing in the process.
