October half-term is always an exciting holiday. The weather is starting to turn crisp and autumnal, and special events are running almost everywhere.
I’ve compiled a list of some of our favourite Halloween activities in Hampshire, but do let me know if you’ve got one I can add to the list!
Halloween Trail at West Green House
West Green House always puts on great Halloween and Christmas events. There’s no illuminated Halloween trail this year, but there is a trail in the daytime. The Halloween trail is £5 and does not include garden entry.
The Vyne
If you’ve got National Trust membership, there’s a lot going on in Hampshire. The Vyne near Basingstoke is running a Witches Potion trail. Trail maps are £2, and there are sweetie prizes up for grabs.
Mottisfont
Mottisfont has a fantastic Funnybones trail running this year, with series exercises and, guess what’s in the trick-or-treat boxes. The Adventures with the Ahlberg’s art exhibition is also running until the 5th of November.
Mottisfont also has a great playground, so it is well worth a visit at any time of year.
Hinton Ampner
There’s a Wilma the Witch trail running at Hinton Ampner near Alresford. Trail maps are £2, which includes a pencil and a prize!
Gilbert White’s House
Head to Gilbert White’s House for lots of autumnal fun, including scavenger hunts, arts and crafts and even a torchlit trail. See the website for dates and times.
Halloween at New Forest Activities
New Forest Activities has lots of brilliant Halloween activities running over the next few weeks. There’s pumpkin archery, a canoe treasure hunt and a spooky river tour.
We’ve never tried the Halloween activities, but we did a canoe tour of the Beaulieu over the summer that we loved!
Hawk Conservatory
Owl-O-Ween is running on the 28th and 29th of October, 2023 at the Hawk Conservatory trust. There’s ghostly storytelling, flying displays and moonlit trails through the beautiful grounds.
Milestones Museum
Explore the cobbled streets of Milestone Museum and follow the trail to find out who is haunting the houses.
Winchester Science Centre
Winchester Science Centre is always a great day out, even without a special event. This half term, there’s a Science Spooktacular event running from the 20th -30th of October with a trick-or-treat trail, mini monster disco, and trick-or-treat pocket science, as well as the usual shows and hands-on exhibits.
Paulton’s Park
Paultons Park at Halloween is always brilliant fun. As well as the usual 70 rides and attractions, there are special events, shows and a mystery to solve. Check the website for show dates, times and late-night opening hours.
Manor Farm County Park
This half term, you can take part in a magical broomstick flying academy in Manor Farm Country Park as well as the usual outdoor adventures and animal experiences!
Halloween on the Watercress Line
Dress up and ride on the Wizard Express on the Watercress Line. Visitors can hop on and off at the four stations and explore magical activities at each one!
Bursledon Brickworks Museum
Bursledon Brickworks Museum has a special LEGO event running on Wednesday 25th and Thursday 26th October, as well as special Halloween events.
