Sicily is a fantastic location for a standalone break or part of a family trip exploring Italy. There are plenty of attractions, family friendly restaurants and hotels, and endless opportunities for making unforgettable memories together.

Stunning Beaches

Sicily has over 1000 km of beautiful coastline making it the perfect location for sunbathing, swimming and water sports. The crystal clear water are perfect for snorkelling with a huge variety of marine life to be seen, including spiny sea urchins, colourful fish, seahorses and eels.

Sicily’s beaches are diverse, some have beautiful soft golden sand and others impressive black volcanic pebbles. Visitors looking for a quiet beach should head to Rabbit Beach on the island of Lampedusa, famous for clear waters and colourful marine life.

If you want to see a volcanic beach, Aci Trezza is a good location, with a unique volcanic landscape, and impressive rock formations.

Whether you want lie and relax, try a watersport or sit back and admire the scenery, Sicily has a beach for every preference.

A family friendly villa on the Sicilian coast is a great choice for families who enjoy the beach and water sports.

Outdoor Adventures

Sicily offers a plethora of opportunities for adventure and unforgettable experiences. Visitors can hike through the Madonie Mountains, kayak in the sea, hike Mount Etna, see a sulfur spring and take a mud bath. Sicily also offers wonderful snorkeling and diving opportunities, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding, sailing and boat tours.

Adrenaline junkies will love white water rafting through the Alcantara Gorges, off road quad bike experiences, canyoning and sliding down natural waterslides.

The Nebrodi Mountains are a fantastic location for rock climbing and Sicily offers amazing views for paragliders.

Visit a Volcano

Mount Etna is located on the eastern coast of Sicily and is one of the most active volcanoes in the world. It’s constantly erupting giving visitors incredible views of lava flows and ash plumes. Mount Etna is considered to be a safe volcano, and most eruptions do not endanger visitors or residents in the area.

Visitors can explore the many mountain trails which range from easy family friendly walks to challenging hikes to the summit. There’s a cable car to higher elevations for young and older people or anyone who doesn’t fancy the walk.

Explore Ancient Greece

History fans will be fascinated by ancient Greek temples and other archaeological sites. Valley of the Temples in Agrigento is a UNESCO World Heritage Site where visitors can see a collection of well preserved ancient Greek temples including the Temple of Hera and the Temple of Zeus.

The Greek Theatre of Taormina sits on top of a hill overlooking the Ionian Sea. It has incredible views of the coast and is still used for concerts!

Another must see area of Sicily is Syracuse. The remains of the ancient city features a variety of archaeological sites including the Roman Amphitheater and the Ear of Dionysius.
