A dream garden

Published: Oct 19, 2012 by admin · This post may contain affiliate links or sponsored content

We are very lucky with our garden in that it is quite a large space for the kids to play, but due to our lack of green fingers, time and funds it is a neglected space.

My ideal would be for the children to be able to use it all year round, instead of just when the weather is nice. On a day like today it’s just a bit of a muddy mess.

I asked Z to draw his dream garden for me.

The drawing shows a pond ( with a moving play house behind it ), a chocolate tree, zip wire, slide and climbing frame. I’m hoping it’s not drawn to scale or that is one enormous tree he wants.

Most of that is probably out of reach, but I would love to have  some kind of natural playground for the children to play on, maybe a balance beam made from a log, and swinging bars ( little H loves to swing on everything). This photo, taken at Wisley shows the kind of thing I’m after.

I’d love some stepping stones too, I know my children would use them for a whole host of imaginary games as well as for racing around. Something like these.

This is my plan for the garden. The decked area by the back door would give me somewhere to put the water table so we can play with sand, water and paint without slipping in the mud. Then in summer I could sit out and read a book while the kids play around me ( possibly less likely than having a zip wire, but a girl can hope ).

It would be a dream come true to have a wonderful educational and fun space for my children to play in all year round. I’ve pinned some more ideas here.

What do you think? Is it possible?

That garden would be magnificent. I love the idea of a balance beam, that would be ace. I look at out garden and I don’t see a garden for The Boy to play in in the future, it was designed with quite rigid physical aspects seven years ago. I don’t know where I’d fit in a climbing frame for example.
