Step By Step Beginner’s Guide to Gardening

  1. Select the Right Location

What will be the right location? This is the first question that comes into our minds whenever we think about planting a garden, we need to be very careful in selecting the area as we’re going to cultivate plants and flowers, whose growth depends on various factors like proper sunlight, fertile soil, etc. After selecting the area of your choice, you need to check regularly for a few days to see how many hours of sunlight it gets every day.

Some plants need full-day sunlight (almost 6-8 hours) but you have other options too like salad green such as lettuce can be shade tolerant. Check the soil of the selected area because it should be soft, fertile, and rock free otherwise, you will have to work harder.

  1. Ensure Adequate  Water Supply.

Water is critical for plant growth. Plants can’t even prepare their food without it and can die if a water supply is short, so your garden should be in a place where you have proper water access. The location you select also matters. If you select outdoors, you can also rely on rainwater, but having a backup plan in case of drought is also pivotal.

For indoor locations, you can manage watering your plants by providing them with tap water through pipes. But if you prefer planting your garden outdoors, it is a more effective and traditional way.

  1.  Decide What To Cultivate

There is no hard and fast rule for the types of plants and flowers you’re going to have in your garden, you can grow the plants of your choice. Everyone loves to eat fresh fruits and vegetables, so choose some vegetable plants, fruit plants, and fragrant flower plants too because in addition to providing you with fruits and veggies, your garden must look beautiful and aesthetic.

Try to have as much variety as you can. If you are short on space, you can hang flower pots on the walls. You can even grow melons using pots, and grape wines on the fence will pop up in the game.

  1. Purchase Your Garden Essentials

Buying the essentials for your garden is an engaging and joyful task. You just have to make a list of all the essential things and purchase them. You will need the following items for sure.

  • Fertilizers & Seeds: How can you forget to buy fertilizers when you think of planting your garden? Fertilizers contain organic matter and other important nutrients must be needed for plants. Alternatively, you can also use compost such as manure, fruit scrapings, and other organic matter. A variety of seeds are available in gardening stores, purchase them.
  •  Tools: A garden cannot be cultivated without gardening tools which include shovels, gardening gloves, mulch liners, growing cages, garden forks, rakes, pruners, and wheelbarrows.
  • Containers & pots: For growing some fruits and vegetables like tomatoes, oranges, lemons, and salads, you can use containers. Pots can be used for flowers so purchase these two essentials as per your need.
  • Pesticides & weed Killers: pesticides and weed killers are important to protect your plants from pests and weeds respectively. Weeds are unwanted plants that can cause stunted growth in plants so must add weed killing to your to-do list.
  1. Start Planting Your Seeds

After preparing the soil, it’s time to sow seeds to grow plants in your garden. Before that make a layout on paper and label the areas where you have to grow fruits, vegetables, and flowers. Then by using this layout, divide your garden into different compartments and sow the seeds.

Mention the name of the plant on every compartment with the help of tags for your ease. After sowing seeds, regularly water the plants and wait to harvest them when they will grow.

Conclusion

In addition to adding beauty to your apartment, the garden provides you with fresh food, so the time you invest in gardening pays off. Creating your lavish garden is fun from scratch to bloom. Also, spending time with nature gives you good health, as science has proved that flowers have an instant positive impact on your mood, health, and body. What are you waiting for now?  Follow the above guide and create an incredible garden.
