Shake Up Your Wake Up Breakfast Surprise

Published: Jan 21, 2016 by admin · This post may contain affiliate links or sponsored content

We’re super excited to be partnering with Nestlé Cereals for Breakfast week next week ( 24th January ). Nestlé Cereals very kindly sent us a Shake Up your Wake Up surprise to cheer up a cold, wet Sunday morning . I’ll be sharing a video of our secret surprise next week, so do pop back to find out more about our very exciting breakfast treat.

nestle cereal

I’m a big believer that breakfast is very important, especially for children who need to be able concentrate at school. Cereal is an easy, low cost breakfast, perfect for rushed school days and if you choose the right variety can be full of whole grain goodness as well as vitamins, iron and calcium.

My middle daughter likes only the tiniest trickle on milk of her cereal and does a lot of sport so I really worry about her calcium intake. Luckily one of her favourite cereals is Curiously Cinnamon which gives her morning a much needed vitamin D and calcium boost.

My youngest child adores Cheerios which is  great as they are made with 4 whole grains, 7 vitamins, iron and calcium.

My son and I love Shreddies with hot milk, and did you know Shreddies are packed with whole grain, high in fibre and fortified with five B vitamins and iron?

Cheerios

It’s really good to know that Nestlé Cereals contain so much goodness as well as tasting great. Did you know that one in five of us aren’t eating ANY whole grains at all*, and that 80% of us aren’t eating enough whole grains for them to have a beneficial impact on health?
You can even get Nestle Gluten Free Cornflakes in two flavours, Traditional and Honey, these are a great source of seven vitamins and minerals, including iron and vitamin D.

You know I love a bit of science, did you know that whole grains are grains that contain all three edible parts – the germ, endosperm and the bran, whereas refined grains only include endosperm, which means some nutrients have been lost. The three edible parts together provide a range of vitamins, minerals, fibre, starch and other nutrients that play a great part in maintaining a healthy balanced diet.

Nestle Cereals

We were very excited to receive the hamper above in the post one Friday and I cannot tell you how hard it was to wait till Sunday to find out what was inside Not only did we get our special surprise day off to a brilliant start with lovely whole grain cereal, we were also given tickets to…….

You’ll have to wait till next week to find out, but I can tell you it was brilliant fun and just perfect for us.

*Research by Newcastle University and published in the British Journal of Nutrition

Every serving of Nestlé Cereals with the green banner provides a minimum of 8g of whole grain, which is a great start towards the recommend daily intake.

We are big fans of Cheerios in this house, they are so so tasty. Can’t beat a big bowl of cereal in the morning. Healthy, nutritious and tasty x

At the moment the boys are loving porridge, which I am not going to complain about with scrambled eggs on days when we have enough time

My son loves ‘hoops’ as he calls them as part of his breakfast. He likes to have a selection in his bowl each morning!

We’re on Cheerios at the moment. I tend to vary the cereals i buy each week but Cheerios often come out as a favourite!

My girls go very up and down with cereals, so I feel like we have a stockpile of them! I have been guilty of grabbing a handful of Cheerios as a snack too!

Looking forward to seeing where you are adventuring off to!

I am another to extol the virtues of breakfast and I can tell of the children that I taught who had had breakfast in the morning or who had grabbed biscuits on the way to school. Thankfully mine all eat a good breakfast every morning.

We all eat cereals for breakfast in our house! My boys eat huge quantities of them. They often eat them in the evenings too, which is a lot better than eating biscuits.
It’s incredible that so many people don’t have any wholegrain at all!

Aww you tease! I want to know where you went! We love Shreddies, and they’re the lowest GI of all the processed cereals, so they’re great to keep blood sugar levels steady through the morning too 🙂

We eat loads of cereals in this house with shreddies the top favourite. Hubby has them with warm milk but I prefer ice cold

My kids love Cheerios (though admittedly I’m too cheap to buy branded cereal, so they get generic). I like watching them tuck into breakfast – especially as I’m so rubbish at eating it myself.

My two love porridge but they try and load it with everything from syrup to Nutella making it not so good for them so I’m trying out new cereals to tempt them at the moment;-)

I’ve always been a huge cereal fan, my grandparents would let all the grandchildren enjoy another bowl before bed so that we didn’t get hungry in the night.
