This month the ‘Around the world in 12 dishes’ country is Russia.
I decided to make Russain tea cakes so the kids could get really involved with the preparation.
Recipe
- 1 cup butter
- ½ cup icing sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 ¼ cups plain flour
- Icing sugar
- Instructions
- Mix everything together ( the butter needs to be quite soft ) to form a dough like mixture.
- Leave in the fridge for about an hour.
- Roll into small balls and bake at 175 degrees celsius for 15 minutes.
Once baked roll in icing sugar whilst still warm.
We added some chocolate to a couple of the teacakes, and they were AMAZING!
Z and S love anything they can get their hands dirty with so these were fantastic for them.

Yummy! I had some Russian Tea Cakes from a place called Cafe Europa and it was yummy! They put in golden raisins, though, which I wasn’t expecting- was a surprise. 🙂
